Duke of Bourbon: Wine Association Event

Are you ready for the last big bowl of the year? In the spirit of the football play-off season and the Super Bowl, we will kick off "WINE BOWL 2010" at the Warner Center Marriott Indoor Stadium on Thursday, February 11, 2010.

Joining us for this championship event will be amazing teams of all-star wines from the formidable franchises of FOXEN WINERY, JOSEPH PHELPS VINEYARDS and FREESTONE VINEYARDS. They are certain to run up high scores when led by outstanding coaches JENNY & DICK DORÉ of Foxen and BILL PHELPS of Phelps and Freestone. The DUKE (David Breitstein) will be our All- Star Referee. Since there will be no defense, everyone - players, coaches and spectators - are sure bets to be big winners.

We will begin the action with a Pre-game Warm-up apéritif. Then, we promise to tackle your taste buds with the big game line-up: exciting Foxen Fullback Futures (including Sea Smoke Pinot Noir) plus special appearances by Toasted Rope Syrah and Range 30 West (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot from the Happy Canyon appellation); a Full Field of Star Offense Players from Joseph Phelps Vineyards (including the 2005 Backus and the Preview Showing of 2007 Insignia, which recently received a score of 97- 100 from Robert Parker); and Rookie Appearances by Freestone's exciting Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.

Our coaches definitely deserve special recognition for their accomplishments. Jenny & Dick Doré founded Foxen Winery along with Bill & Becky Wathen in 1985. They train their wines in the Central Coast area just north of the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Maria and their fame is wide-spread for producing outstanding Pinot Noirs. Foxen is the only winery other than Sea Smoke itself to be allowed to produce a wine from the Sea Smoke Pinot Noir grapes and the Duke is the only retailer with Foxen Sea Smoke Futures! The other Foxen wines also perform extremely well. Bill Phelps is the President of Joseph Phelps Vineyards, which was founded by his father Joseph Phelps in 1972. Located in the St. Helena area of Napa Valley just east of the Silverado Trail, Phelps is known for producing world-class estate Bordeaux varieties. Their flagship wine Insignia is one of California's first-growth luxury blends. Phelps also owns Freestone Vineyards, which is located in the western part of Sonoma County. Their interest in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay led the Phelps Family to the Freestone area because of the cool climate and Goldridge soil series, conditions ideal for growing both varietals. Their inaugural harvest was in 2005 and their wines already have received positive reviews characterizing them as stylish and impressive. They are sure to perform like champions.

A 50-yard-line seat to "Wine Bowl 2010" is $45.00 per person for the member and one guest; additional guest and non-member reservations are $53.00 per person. Full payment must accompany your reservation. No tickets are issued; you will be notified if your reservation cannot be accepted. Cancellation deadline for full refund is February 10.
