Dear Wine Associates:

We are delighted to invite you to join us on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, as we try to keep cool in the midst of "A 2004 HOT AUGUST NIGHT!" by presenting a cool selection of exciting wines from six sensational wineries: IRON HORSE VINEYARDS, CHATEAU MONTELENA, SILVER OAK CELLARS, TWOMEY CELLARS, RUDD and EDGE HILL.

We will begin the evening with a walk-around tasting of appropriately chilled Sparkling Wines from Iron Horse Vineyards. The sit-down portion of the evening will feature an amazing line-up of hot new releases, including the highly anticipated Silver Oak 2000 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and the premiere showing of the superb Rudd 2001 Estate Red.

IRON HORSE, located in the picturesque Green Valley of Sonoma County, was founded by Audrey & Barry Sterling in 1976. FORREST TANCER, who was vineyard manager at the time, became a Partner in 1979 and eventually became the Winemaker and married The Sterling's delightful daughter, Joy, who is a partner as well as the marketing director for this close family operation. They produce an extensive selection of excellent wines, including exciting sparkers, classy Chardonnays and distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons, all of which have received numerous accolades. We're so happy that our charming friend Forrest will be on hand to elucidate on some of his hottest creations.

CHATEAU MONTELENA, located at the northern end of the Napa Valley in Calistoga, without a doubt is one of California's finest wineries producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignons, Chardonnays and Zinfandels. They first earned their reputation when their 1973 Chardonnay won the famed "1976 Paris Tasting" and they continue to merit the highest praise. We are pleased to welcome their charming Southern California Regional Manager,TRACI LAWRENCE,to guide us through a tasting of four of their hotly appreciated wines.

SILVER OAK is located in the Oakville area of Napa Valley and in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. Known for over 30 years for producing outstanding and highly coveted Cabernet Sauvignons, Silver Oak's two gems have been dubbed "America's wines." We are delighted to welcome back our friend SUSAN CANNON, their lovely and knowledgeable Southern California Sales Director ,to present Silver Oak's hot new release.

TWOMEY is a fairly young winery owned by the Duncan Family, who also own Silver Oak. They are located in the Calistoga area of Napa Valley on the former Stonegate property. Their featured wine is an extraordinary Merlot from a single Napa Valley vineyard, the Soda Canyon Ranch. We are pleased to present their impressive 2001 vintage this evening, which is purported to resemble a top-notch Pomerol. SUSAN CANNON also represents Twomey and can fill us in on the complete Twomey story.

RUDD is a gorgeous estate located along the Silverado Trail in the Oakville area of Napa Valley, an appellation known for outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends. Proprietor Leslie Rudd purchased the former Girard property in 1996 and proceeded to re-plant the vineyards, re-build the winery and offices, and create a magnificent world-class estate with highly rated wines. This evening's featured hot Rudd wine is their 2001 Estate Red, which has already received rave reviews and a 95+ rating from wine writer Robert Parker.

EDGE HILL is Leslie Rudd's newest venture. In 1999, he began to restore the historic Edge Hill property to the prominent estate and winery it had been in the 19th Century. Located in the western foothills of St. Helena, it was the very first three-level, gravity-fed winery in Napa Valley and, by 1880, it was one of the four wineries responsible for over half of the production of Napa Valley wines. The 21st Century Edge Hill wines are quite limited and truly terrific. We are thrilled to welcome Rudd's Marketing Director, POLLY BROWN, to help us present three superb 2002 Edge Hill selections.

The cost for this "A 2004 HOT AUGUST NIGHT!" seminar is $38.00 per person for the member and the first guest. Additional guest and non-member reservations are $43.00 per person. Full payment must accompany your reservation. No tickets are issued; you will be notified if your reservation cannot be accepted. Cancellation deadline for full refund is August 30.
