We (Duke and Duke Staff) just had the privilege of tasting Sinatra Family Estates 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and--no surprise--it is fantastic!

Tina, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Jr., are banking on the fact that 2007 was a "very good year" (possibly even a classic one) for Napa Cabernet as they announce the launch of Sinatra Family Estates 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, made in partnership with winemakers John Schwartz (owner of Amuse Bouche Winery, Napa Valley) and Danielle Price (Executive Director of Wine for Wynn Resorts and co-owner of Coup de Foudre Winery along with John Schwartz).

Following are the extremely clever notes sent to us by the winery:

COMPOSITION: This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (90%), Cabernet Franc (7%) and Petit Verdot (3%) from our estate vineyards in the Calistoga region of Napa Valley, "My Kind of Town"! As for the 2007 vintage, "It Was a Very Good Year." The vines benefited from an extended growing season and the warm "Summer Wind." Hand picking the third week in October, "In the Wee Hours of the Morning" by "Strangers in the Night," we were committed to "All or Nothing At All," knowing that we could settle for nothing less than optimal brix levels to obtain berry juice worthy of declaring, "I've Got You Under My Skin." Aging "Night & Day" for 20 months in a combination of Taransaud, Saury and Seguin Moreau cooperage, set the stage for the next verse.

MELODY: The 2007 Sinatra Family Estates Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a deep ruby/purple color with flavors of cedar, tobacco leaf, blueberry and black currant. There is a sweet aroma of licorice and floral nuances.

HARMONY: The packaging for the 2007 vintage pays tribute to Sinatra's seminal recording of "Come Fly With Me." This song, written in 1957 by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, became Frank Sinatra's first ever #1 on the Billboard charts and was nominated in 1959 for an Album of the Year Grammy. The label pays tribute to Frank's many recording achievements, with an embossed 45 rpm (remember those?) record featuring Reprise Records, Sinatra's own record label he started in 1960.

CHORUS: Because the wine was meant to be enjoyed while listening to the Chairman of the Board, each vintage 2007 six-pack is accompanied by a CD of the original recording of the "Come Fly With Me" album and a first-day struck Frank Sinatra official 42-cent US postal stamp and postcard (May 13, 2008-Las Vegas), signed by a Sinatra family member.
