We originally told you about this classically-styled Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon back in October. We liked the wine so much that we invited winemaker
Jack Stuart to our
Wine Bowl 2009.
Trivium showed so well that evening that we can't help but offer it again. Jack has generously allocated us a few more 6-packs of his miniscule production. Teaser: We also had a chance to taste a barrel sample of his 2007 effort. Wow! We can't wait. Wine this good just has to be shared, so do not miss our special pricing below.
Here is the text of our previous email again.

"Trivium" must have something to do with "three," right? Yes, sir. Three wine-industry veterans are conspiring to bring you some classic Cabernet Sauvignon. The three are
Jack Stuart, winemaker,
Stuart Harrison, marketing expert, and
Doug Wight, respected viticulturist and fifth-generation Napa Valley grape-grower. Jack, who was founding Winemaker and General Manager at
Silverado Vineyards, stopped by the
Duke last week to let us sample
Trivium 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The fruit comes from Les Ivrettes Vineyard on the Lewelling Estate, which is owned by Doug Wight. The name translates loosely as "little tipsy ones," a humorous reference to the college-age antics of the daughters of the three partners sipping wine in the vineyard.
We found the wine to be a wonderful expression of classic St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon, quite rich with great elegance and finesse. Jack makes a wine that is high in acid with ripe, mature tannins. The aromas are a refined perfume of cherry, cassis, exotic spice and sweet oak. On the palate, the wine is silky and mouthcoating with good structure, a harmonious finish and superior aging potential. Jack tells us that his goal is to make a wine that continues to improve so that each bottle in a case tastes better than the first.
Believe us when we tell you that we are extra careful about adding new wineries to our inventory. However, this is one we would never pass up the opportunity to carry at the store. The Duke has this limited-edition gem (production is a mere 318 cases) available for $59.99 per bottle. To help you try that case test, we are making a 6-pack available for $342.00
