A new vintage of America's wine is about to burst onto the scene. August 2 is release day for Silver Oak 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley! The Duke will be celebrating on that Saturday along with the throngs at the Silver Oak wineries in Napa and Alexander Valley. Just for the day on Saturday, you can obtain your supply of Silver Oak for $62.99 per bottle (from bottle one!). If you pre-ordered at a higher price and pick up your wine on Saturday, you will receive the lower price. This is a great excuse to race to the Duke and buy a whole case, so you can enjoy some bottles in the near term and the rest over the next several years.

The 2004 vintage turned out well, but with smaller-than-average yields. The wine is just as luscious as you have come to expect from Silver Oak. It is refined and complex and combines subtlety with depth of flavor. The wine has a dark ruby color with a deep red edge and displays aromas of fresh blackberries, violets, cola, nutmeg and licorice. In the mouth, it has a juicy attack and offers great expression of fruit and spice on the mid-palate leading to a fruit-driven finish that is long and elegant.
