Hundred Acre 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Kayli Morgan Vineyard

Parker said it pretty well after he awarded the wine a stunning 96-99 points: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan looks to be the finest Cabernet Sauvignon Jayson Woodbridge has yet produced, and has put on weight and complexity since I tasted it last year. Like all of his Cabernet Sauvignons, this wine is fermented in wood puncheons or demi-muids, and is a breathtaking example of plush, layered, complex Cabernet Sauvignon. A total thrill, this wine has absolutely awesome aromatics of creme de cassis, cedar, sweet cherries, spice box, as well as licorice and graphite. A caramelized sweetness to the fruit, loads of glycerin, unbelievable unctuosity and opulence a la Pomerol's Le Pin or some of the legendary vintages of right bank Bordeaux leads into a full-bodied, concentrated, exceptionally pure wine that is a total delight to smell, contemplate, sip, and in my case, spit out. This is a wine that can be drunk young or cellared for 20+ years."

The Duke is proud to have offered every vintage of the fabulous Hundred Acre wines and is equally proud to be one of their primary retail accounts. We have Hundred Acre 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Kayli Morgan Vineyard available for you in custom wooden 3-pack cases for $777.00 each ($259.00 per bottle). We do not have a limit on purchases at this time, but we suggest that you place your order sooner rather than later. With scores like this . . . .

Hundred Acre 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Ark Vineyard

Parker's notes were effusive after he awarded this beauty 94-96 points: "The debut vintage from a 17-acre Howell Mountain parcel of vines, planted meter by meter, is the 2005 Ark. Yields were tiny (one ton of fruit per acre) in this relatively abundant vintage . . . Supple tannin, medium to full body, and beautiful concentration suggest a high-class wine of elegance and complexity," and, later, "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark is gorgeously rich, with a deep ruby/purple color and creme de cassis aromas intermixed with some graphite, licorice, espresso, and spice. An opulent, fleshy wine with more noticeable tannic structure and earthiness, this wine will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink well for two decades."

We have the inaugural vintage of Hundred Acre 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Ark Vineyard available for you in custom wooden 3-pack cases for $777.00 each ($259.00 per bottle). This vineyard has the potential to become, if not THE, certainly one of the premier vineyards in the state. Start the vertical today!

Hundred Acre 2005 Shiraz, Ancient Way Vineyard

The Ancient Way Vineyard was planted by the top viticulturalist in Australia while he worked for Penfold's. He selected the very best cuttings from Grange's core vineyard blocks to create this unique site. The soil is iron-rich red earth over fractured limestone, a rare soil sequence allowing Hundred Acre to produce a Shiraz like no other ever made in the Barossa Valley. The vineyard yield in 2005 was only 1.2 tons per acre (about one-fourth of a typical Shiraz vineyard). "Ancient way" also describes the methods used in the vineyard. In an area where labor prices dictate the use of machines to harvest the crop and even to prune the vines, Hundred Acre does everything the "ancient way," entirely by hand!

The wine is unmistakably Hundred Acre: powerful, elegant, complex, packed with concentrated black fruit and layer upon layer of subtle spice, mocha and smoke nuances. This wine bears more resemblance to its sister wine than it does to any other Shiraz made previously. With the Kayli Morgan Cabernet and the Ancient Way Shiraz side-by-side, the stylistic similarities are striking, one with nuances of Napa Cabernet, the other of Barossa Shiraz . . . both are, without question, among the finest wines made in the world.

The Duke is excited to offer one of the world's greatest Shiraz, Hundred Acre 2005 Shiraz, Ancient Way Vineyard, to you in custom wooden 3-pack cases for $777.00 each ($259.00 per bottle). Order your share today!
