It is our pleasure to invite you to join us on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, for an enticing seminar featuring "THREE EXCITING ESTATES"- FOXEN WINERY, KRUPP BROTHERS ESTATES and EHLERS ESTATE. Each of these wineries offers exceptional wines produced from grapes grown on excellent vineyard sites. Their wines are highly regarded and extremely popular with consumers.
FOXEN WINERY was established in 1985 by Dick Doré and Bill Wathen on Foxen Canyon Road in Santa Maria, California. From the beginning, they have produced superb wines which have been in great demand. To quote noted wine writer Robert Parker, "Foxen continues to go from strength to strength, no matter what the varietal . . . the winery has been on a hot streak and just about every wine they have produced over recent vintages merits serious attention." We have given "serious attention" to their wines at many of our seminars over the years. This year, we are excited to welcome back our delightful friends, co-owners DICK DORÉ & JENNY WILLIAMSON-DORÉ, who will be treating us to a "futures tasting" of their famed Sea Smoke and Bien Nacido Pinot Noirs.
KRUPP BROTHERS ESTATES was founded in 1991 by brothers Jan and Bart Krupp in the Soda Canyon appellation of Napa Valley. They named their first small plantings "Krupp Brothers Vineyard," but they had bigger and better ideas. In 1995, they planted the now-famous "Stagecoach Vineyard" high up on the south side of Pritchard Hill overlooking Oakville. Here, they grow 13 grape varietals of absolutely outstanding quality which are purchased by some of Napa Valley's finest wineries. In addition, they themselves are producing an amazing collection of fascinating wines from these grapes, including "The Doctor" and the 2005 Joshua Super Tuscan. Joining us to help present the Krupp Brothers wines will be BRIAN THOMPSON, the personable stepson of Jan Krupp and JAN KRUPP, himself.
EHLERS ESTATE was originally founded in 1886 by Bernard Ehlers in the heart of St. Helena. Today, it is owned by the Leducq Foundation, which was created by Jean & Sylviane Leducq as a non-profit, philanthropic entity for the sole purpose of supporting international cardiovascular research. Their efforts are focused on producing limited, classic, estate-grown wines. Their general manager is the charming KELLY DUCKHORN McELEARNEY, a long-time friend of the Duke, who will be joining us to help showcase three terrific Ehlers Estate 2005 red wines, including their outstanding flagship wine, the St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 1886.
