Cheers! from the Duke of Bourbon
Delas Cotes du Rhone, 2005 Saint-Esprit (en magnum) is back!
The Duke found this tremendous wine bargain two years ago. Your response to the offering then was strong and now we can tell you that the new vintage is available. And what a vintage! 2005 was good almost everywhere but nearly perfect in France. Cotes du Rhone is in the northern Rhone Valley (shown in green on the map of France to the right) near the area where Chateauneuf du Pape is made. The outstanding Delas Winery is owned by the Louis Roederer family who produces the famed Cristal Champagne.
The staff at the Duke had the opportunity to sample the current vintage of this delicious wine and all agreed it was the kind of value that we love to offer. We thought it tasted like a classic Cotes du Rhone with lovely fruit, delicate tannins, a nuance of oak and a lingering finish. It is ideal for serving with hearty dishes and perfect with down-home comfort food. Keep in mind that we are talking magnum here. It is a classy, beautiful package as well, with a traditional Rhone crest embossed on the bottle. (Perfect as a hostess gift, too)
Robert Parker had some very nice things to say: "The 2005 Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit, a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache, offers a dark ruby/purple color in addition to pleasant aromas of berry fruits, not a great deal of complexity, but medium body as well as good acidity and freshness."
Now, let's talk about our terrific price. This wine is a bargain at the regular list price of $24.00 each. The Duke sharpened his pencil and is discounting that to just $17.99 for each magnum. Order 6 (the equivalent of a full case of wine) and we will discount it even further to $102.00 (that's just $17.00 per 1.5L bottle).
