The Duke's whereabouts are often kept secret for security reasons. It can now be revealed that he spent last week in that little slice of heaven known as Napa Valley. What follows is but a tiny portion of the results of that visit.Extensive replanting of the vineyards at Dalla Valle
have resulted in current vintages of that Napa classic being very scarce. The stature of Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon is well-known to collectors and consumers of high-end wine. Wines made from Dalla Valle Vineyards are pure unbridled expressions of fruit at its most powerful and concentrated. One would expect that only nectar could come from the incredible location pictured above.
The Duke was able to arrange for winery owner Naoko Dalla Valle to release some of her cellared holdings, the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon to be precise. Both Robert Parker
and the Wine Spectator have raved about Dalla Valle 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon. Parker rated it 93 points and noted: "The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon (2,800 cases from a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc) boasts an opaque purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of mineral-infused black currants, and spicy oak. Full-bodied, structured, muscular, and multi-dimensional, it is approachable, but best cellared for 2-4 years, and drunk over the following 20-25 years." The Spectator was more effusive, awarding the wine 96 points and commenting: "Tremendous flavor, dark, ripe, rich and packed with black cherry, currant, anise, cedar and spice. Finishes with firm but deliciously well-integrated tannins."
There is a tiny amount of this stunning and complex wine available for your cellar. Or your table for that matter! The wine, while still youthful, is drinking magnificently right now. We have this perfectly cellared gem for you, direct from Dalla Valle's own caves. The price is right - $175.00 per bottle or $1,050.00 per 6-pack case. We expect the wine to arrive in early October.
This might be the perfect gift for your wine-loving friends
