The Duke is really excited to bring you a bit of news! Today, May 1, 2007, is a truly important day in the history of the Duke of Bourbon! On May 1, 1967, David and Judy Breitstein opened the doors to a fine wine and premium spirits shop in Canoga Park called the Duke of Bourbon (yes, Bourbon was really "in" then) and have been bringing the wonders of the wine world to their loyal customers for, lo, these last forty years. The Duke is proud to have had the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the development of the wine scene in America. Who knew what it would grow into?! David's first trip to Napa Valley in 1969 opened the wide highway of the future for the Duke's many adventures. How wonderful it has been to see California wines attain the world-class status that is appreciated by wine lovers everywhere!
All of us here at the Duke would like to lift a glass to salute you, our customers, for helping to make this milestone possible. And another to toast all the wonderful people we have met along the way - winery owners, winemakers, sales people and all the others who have made these last forty years fly by. You can't believe how much we have enjoyed the ride! Thank you!!
P.S.: We plan to have a formal celebration later in the year. We will keep you posted.
