Because winemaker Zach Rasmuson only selects a small percentage of the finest fruit for Goldeneye Pinot Noir, a quantity of excellent grapes often remain. Beginning with the 2001 vintage, Goldeneye began selecting the best of these Pinot Noir lots to be released as a sister label, Migration. Migration 2005 Pinot Noir continues Goldeneye's (and Duckhorn Wine Company's) adherence to being a quality-driven operation. The goal is to fashion a wine that expresses the depth and character of the Anderson Valley. Migration meets that expectation and more.

2005 is an exceptional vintage and the grapes in Goldeneye and Migration were in perfect condition when harvested. Migration is a delicious medium-bodied wine with bright fruit complemented by ripe and broad tannins that provide great balance and a lengthy finish. The aroma features blueberry, plum, strawberry pie and toasted oak. The flavors are focused and follow through with ripe strawberry, plum and cherry complemented by clove. A lighter style than Goldeneye, this wine shows the range and suppleness of the Pinot Noir varietal.
