Dan and Margaret Duckhorn's vision of producing a world class Pinot Noir came to fruition with the inaugral vintage of Goldeneye in 1997. With cool ocean fog, clay soil, and long, mild days, the Anderson Valley appellation had all the ingredients they needed. Founded on a commitment to quality, Goldeneye brings the same dedication to viticultural excellence established by Duckhorn Vineyards in the Napa Valley to the Pinot Noir of the Anderson Valley. Goldeneye continues its evolution toward becoming one of the world's premier producers of Pinot Noir with the sensational 2004 vintage.Goldeneye 2004 Pinot Noir
is a full-bodied wine with lofty weight that walks a fine line, staying supple, elegant and well-balanced in spite of its heft. The aroma is inviting with notes of mushroom, forest floor, leather, and cinnamon. The flavors are dominated by blueberry, plum, blackberry, and a medley of spices, including clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The finish is long and lingering, leaving that tingling desire for the next sip.

Here is something truly special for all you lovers of Pinot Noir in general and Goldeneye in particular: Goldeneye, for the first time, has produced two very limited vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs. Read on for the details!
Goldeneye 2004 Pinot Noir, The Narrows Vineyard
Situated on a narrow ridgetop at the northernmost tip of the Anderson Valley, The Narrows Vineyard is a historic mountain ranch a mere 10 miles from the rugged Mendocino Coast. The low-yielding hillside vineyard is affected by strong marine influences that produce summer fog and cooler daytime temperatures. These extreme conditions provide the perfect setting for growing grapes of great intensity, resulting in a complex Pinot Noir of depth that embodies the vineyard's wild beauty. This is a wine of strength and power. Firmly grounded in the soil, this well-structured wine speaks of dusty tannins with a long finish that indicates great aging potential. The aromas are exotic with mint, cedar, mushroom, pine needle, and leather. This wine truly reveals itself in the mouth with tightly wound blackberry, currant, anise, and dried plum. Extremely limited, the Duke is offering it at $75.00 per bottle. Sorry, we must limit purchases to a maximum of 2 bottles.
Goldeneye 2004 Pinot Noir, Confluence Vineyard
The Confluence Vineyard is located in the heart of the Anderson Valley, adjacent to the headwaters of the Navarro River. The Pinot Noir produced from this valley floor vineyard is opulent and displays wonderful red fruit components with plush, supple tannins. This is a broad, voluptuous, and extracted wine that carries its oak in balance with the fruit and has an underlying firmness that indicates good aging potential. The aroma has nuances of plum and strawberry complemented by nutmeg, clove, and toasty vanilla. The flavors are replete with strawberry, cherry, blackberry, and an unusually distinctive hint of mango. All that in the bottle and the Duke has it at $75.00 each. Sorry, we must limit purchases to a maximum of 2 bottles.
