Pure Love Wines, owned by Jayson Woodbridge, proprietor of Hundred Acre Winery, has released four wines made of "100% pure Shiraz" grown in and around the prestigious "Golden Mile" region of the Barossa Valley. Framed by the desert land of the Great Australian Outback in the north, the Great Southern Ocean in the south, and bordered by mountain ranges that reach 2500 feet in elevation, the Barossa Valley represents nature's constant struggle between ocean and desert. The wines have four distinct identities, both in terms of how they taste and how they'll resonate with different people and each with its own unique label evocative of the place in which the wine is grown. These complex wines, Layer Cake
, Barossa Jack, Maverick Above the Law and Desert Eagle, reflect the varied and complex terroirs, red soils, limestone and intensely dry climate found in Australia's most distinguished wine region - the Barossa Valley. Keep in mind that these wines come from Jayson Woodbridge, Philippe Melka and Helen Mawson, the same hands that bring you the ultra-premium Hundred Acre Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. These wines are sought out both by experienced wine consumers and enthusiasts eager for value and greater complexity combined. Layered, aromatic and creamy, they can be enjoyed in a critical setting or in a casual environment. Jayson's descriptions for each are outlined below. All four are ready to drink, yet will age nicely for several years. Try them and see for yourself.
The Duke is making these wines available at the exciting price of $15.99 per bottle - mix or match! Buy them by the case and we will save you a buck-a-bottle $14.99 each - adding greatly to the excitement!
LAYER CAKEMy old grandfather made and enjoyed wine for eighty years. He told me the soils in which the vines lived were a layer cake. He said the wine, if properly made, was like a delicious cake layered with fruit, mocha and chocolate, hints of spice and rich, always rich. "Never pass up a good layer cake", he would say.
This wine is meant for everyone to enjoy, no matter the cuisine - barbeque to Beef Wellington to blackened fish. The wine is all about complexity, layers of flavor and elegance.
BAROSSA JACK
Barossa is tough country and a place where a good dog keeps you company and protects you from snakes while walking the vineyard. Barossa Jack is one of four tough, intelligent and utterly faithful Jack Russell Terriers that help us make our wine.
Powerful and rich, this wine is meant for just having fun and enjoying with friends - too much for just your average wine consumer.
MAVERICK ABOVE THE LAWIn 1851, gold was discovered in Australia. Explorers were convinced that the geological features of the area were similar to those of the gold fields of California. They were right and the great Australian gold rush began. Immigrants poured into the gold fields, many carrying their 1851 Navy Colt revolvers. The "mateship" that developed between them was cemented by their distrust and distain for local authority. The colt played an integral role in settling the land and other matters. These men were Mavericks.
Huge and dense, this wine is for those who enjoy food and wine with no holds barred - a wine Johnny Cash would have loved.
DESERT EAGLEThe Wedge-Tailed Eagle, the largest of Australia's bird of prey, patrols the skies above the Barossa. Mother Nature rules the vineyards, she can make us or break us; destroy our fruit with brutal desert winds or lash us with rain from the Great Southern Ocean. This desert eagle rules over nature's constant struggle in the valley.
Smooth, layered and complex, with a finish that is elegant yet tenacious - like the Desert Eagle. This is more about eating with food such as lamb, pork and salmon; casual enjoyment.
