Cheers! from the Duke of Bourbon

Our email offerings over the last several weeks have been very successful thanks to our loyal fans. We have good news - the Duke has been able to secure some additional wine and is now able to continue those offers. Check out the details below on Goldeneye, Paraduxx, Rudd and Muga
call us today!!

Goldeneye 2003 Pinot Noir
Tasting notes from the winery: "This is a full-bodied wine with a smooth mouthfeel, fine tannin structure, lush texture and a lingering finish. The aroma is complex with notes of cherry, earth, smoke, cedar and flowers. The flavors are predominantly plum, blackberry, mushroom and strawberry with a spicy dash of black pepper." The Duke has this sensational wine available at $52.00 per bottle. (Limit 3 bottles)

Migration 2004 Pinot Noir
The staff here at the Duke refers to this wine as Goldeneye's "baby brother." What a misnomer! This is not a baby by any means. One sip and you will see what we mean. The wine writers have not rated this vintage, but the Wine Spectator awarded the 2003 vintage 93 points. Not bad for a "baby brother." You can order your share from the Duke for just $29.99 per bottle. (Limit 3 bottles)

2003 Paraduxx
This delicious blend of Zinfandel (always the foundation of the wine) and the Bordeaux varietals differs slightly from year to year. From the first vintage, Paraduxx has dedicated itself to finding the optimum blend using combinations of Merlot and Cabernet Franc to enhance the core pairing of Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Noting the jammy quality of valley Zinfandel versus the tannic spiciness of mountain-grown grapes, Paraduxx also experiments with blending fruit from distinct vineyard lots at differing elevations.

The 2003 wine is absolutely delicious. Read on for some notes from the winemaker about this perennial fan favorite: "Aromas exude ripe fruit - dried cranberry, raspberry, and dark cherry, accented by hints of lavender, coconut, and spice; medium-bodied with ample tannins and structure to evolve well for several years; flavors of strawberry jam, rich blackberry, cedar, dill, and oak." The Duke has this beauty available at $45.00 per bottle.

Special deal from the Duke !!
Buy a mixed case of 4 of each wine - 2003 Goldeneye, 2004 Migration and 2003 Paraduxx - for $490.00.
Twelve bottles too much? Buy a mixed 6-pack of 2 of each for $245.00.

Rudd Estate 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon is a reflection of the Oakville benchland terrior where the grapes are grown. The vineyard is planted in very rocky, red volcanic soils using low-vigor rootstock, in a high-density spacing. The low-yielding clones for this wine were selected because they consistently give high quality and are very effective at expressing terroir.

Robert Parker finds Rudd wines exciting. His comment, "The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, firm tannin, and an enticing nose of black currants, espresso roast, charcoal, and cedar wood. Although closed, it is dense, promising, and ageworthy, with an upside potential of 12-15 years," reflects that fact as he awarded it 91 points on his 100-point scale.

Rudd 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon is available here at the Duke for $89.99 per bottle. Buy 3 or more and save, making the per-bottle price $85.00. Buy 6 or more and save even more at just $79.99 per bottle.

Bodegas Muga 2002 Reserva is our final topic for today. Here is what Robert Parker had to say about the 2001 vintage as he awarded it 92 points: "Readers should be purchasing the 2001 Muga Reserva by the case. It is a stunning, unfiltered Rioja made from 70% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache, and the rest Mazuelo and Graciano. A big, rich bouquet of raspberries, cherries, graphite, and tobacco leaves is accompanied by abundant fruit, an expansive, medium to full-bodied palate, elegant, lush flavors, sweet tannin, and hints of cedar and white chocolate. This beautiful Rioja should drink well for a decade." Parker has yet to taste the new vintage, but our contact at importer Jorge Ordonez says "the 2002 vintage of Muga Reserva is the equal of the 2001" and "may turn out to be even better." The staff here at the Duke just had a chance to taste it and sagely opined, "WOW!!"

It is rare to hear such raves about a wine in this price category and this is your chance to attain another Duke specialty - outstanding value-to-price ratio. The Duke is able to bring this Spanish gem to you at $21.99 per bottle. Buy a 6-pack and save an additonal 5%. If you follow Parker's advice and buy a case (or more), the Duke will make the price just $19.99 per bottle!
