Cheers! from the Duke of Bourbon
We recently sent the following invitation to members of The Wine Association. Perhaps you'd like to join us, too.TOP-FLIGHT WINES featuring the wines and winemakers of LONG VINEYARDS -- MARGERUM WINE COMPANY -- HAPPY CANYON CURTIS -- ROCK HOLLOW -- CARLSONWe are pleased to invite you to join us at our next seminar on Thursday, May 18, 2006, featuring a multitude of "TOP-FLIGHT WINES" with three special "wine pilots" - BOB LONG of LONG VINEYARDS, DOUG MARGERUM of MARGERUM WINE COMPANY and HAPPY CANYON VINEYARD, and CHUCK CARLSON of CURTIS WINERY, ROCK HOLLOW and CARLSON. All of our "guest pilots" are known for producing outstanding wines from two of California's finest wine-growing areas, Napa Valley and Santa Barbara County. BOB LONG has been creating outstanding Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons from Napa Valley since 1977. He also has been a great friend of the Duke of Bourbon and we have been offering his wines for almost 30 years. We are so pleased that he will be here to help us introduce four of his wonderful wines, including the world premiere of his 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon. DOUG MARGERUM, who owns the Wine Cask restaurants in Santa Barbara and Los Olivos, continues to amaze us with the fabulous wines he produces. Doug will guide us through a presentation of several selections from his Margerum Wine Company, including the always-in-demand M 5, as well as some beauties he produces from the stunning Happy Canyon Vineyard, which is owned by Tom and Laurel Barrack. By the way, Tom Barrack was recently on the cover of Fortune Magazine. CHUCK CARLSON, who is the General Manager and Winemaker of Curtis Winery and Rock Hollow, and Owner/Winemaker of Carlson Winery, produces absolutely delicious wines under all three labels. From his Carlson Pinot Noir "Le Bon Climat" to the Curtis Late Harvest Viognier, his efforts are among the best of the Santa Barbara County region. We are delighted that Chuck will be on hand to present his excitingly varied creations. We invite you to arrive at 7:00 p.m. for a short walk-around tasting of the apéritif wines before the formal sit-down tasting guided by our "guest pilots" takes off at 7:30 p.m. Many of the wines shown at this seminar will be pre-releases and will be available at special "futures" or "near-futures" prices.
