The Duke has been amazed at the furor created by The Wine Spectator naming Joseph Phelps 2002 Insigna as their Wine of the Year for 2005. Robert Parker giving high scores in almost every vintage and saying things like, "The Insignia cuvee has been one of Napa's great Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines since its inception in 1974," only adds fuel to the fire.The Duke is anxious to do his part and has dug deep into the cellar to come up with a few bottles of both the 2000 (RP 91) and 2001 (RP 95) vintages. By mixing and matching these two older vintages with the incredible 2002, we think we have come up with some interesting and affordable 6-pack combinations for you. Let's start out with a 6-pack mini-vertical containing two bottles of each of these three vintages for $699.00. Or choose a 6-pack containing three of the 2001 vintage and three of the 2002 for $750.00. Or just take a 6-pack of the 2001 Insignia. Remember, this wine is no slouch. While it didn't gather Wine of the Year honors, it did earn 95 points from the tough-grading Parker, just like the 2002 vintage. Single bottles of the 2001 vintage are available at $125.00 per bottle but the 6-pack price is $699.00 or $116.50 each. Think of fine wine! Think of the Duke!
