What better way to segue into our topic . . . 2002 Paraduxx from Duckhorn Wine Company. Paraduxx is one of Duckhorn's finest wines. It is always a unique blend featuring Zinfandel as the base varietal. This year's blend of Zinfandel (72%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Merlot (3%) is a luscious, mouth-filling wine, rich in sweet black fruit but with soft, restrained tannins. It is perfectly balanced with a long, lingering finish. We had the opportunity to taste the 2002 Paraduxx at Super Seminar XXXIII courtesy of our good friend Dan Duckhorn who was in attendance. WOW!! Everyone simply loved it. We always comment on the creative label. Each vintage, Paraduxx displays a 'pair-a-ducks' on the label. The 2002 vintage shows a pair of canvasbacks (above, right). The original art work, A Pair of Canvasbacks by famed nature artist Daniel Smith, is on display in the gallery at Duckhorn's Napa Valley facility. Paraduxx will soon have it's own home; the new winery is under construction and will be operational later this year. This sensational wine is available at the Duke at $43.00 per bottle.
