Hundred Acre is undoubtedly one of the hottest new names on the cult wine scene and the Duke is one of the few merchants in the United States to have the option to pre-sell it to our loyal fans. When we offered the first vintage, 2000, we were astounded at the response (and it takes some astounding to astound us here at the Duke). The 2001 vintage received at least as much attention. We are excited to offer the Hundred Acre 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon on a pre-sell basis for delivery in the Spring of 2005. This promises to be even more sought-after than the first two vintages. Based on wine critic reviews, this wine is even better than the first two, which received raves. Robert Parker reviewed it in The Wine Advocate, rated it 94-96 on his 100-point scale, and enthused as follows: "Even larger-scaled than the 2001, is the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan. Fuller-bodied, with more noticeable glycerin as well as higher alcohol, this dense saturated purple-colored effort exhibits tremendous purity, a voluptuous mid-palate, and a 40+ second finish. It possesses great intensity along with fine purity as well as overall equilibrium, and a Pomerol-like succulence/lushness." Hundred Acre proprietor Jayson Woodbridge calls this wine "a monster" and says it is "incredibly layered, integrated and rich . . . very approachable now and will cellar for a generation." Jayson's passion is exhibited in his never-ending search for the greatest materials and methods of production and the gentlest ways of handling the precious fruit he grows on his single vineyard (Kayli Morgan).
