Cheers! from the Duke of Bourbon
Duck hunting season is open at the Duke. Duckhorn hunting season that is! Check out this flock of Duckhorn wines with tasting notes and find your favorites. (Notice use of the plural - we have yet to identify someone who likes only one of them.) Then call us and order some. We are offering 5% discount on 3 bottles, 10% if you order 6-11 bottles and 15% on orders of 12 or more bottles. All wines except those marked ** assort for the discount. Don't be caught flat-footed. (Groan, but Duckhorn causes us to say stuff like that.) Duckhorn hunting season ends May 31, 2004, so you need to call soonest!

2001 Migration - Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
The Duke is one of the few retailers in the country with any 2001 Migration left. The popularity of this wine is understandable given it's pedigree.
Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir has a medium body with bright acidity and a silky mouth feel followed by a smooth elegant finish and a subtle aftertaste. The aroma is fresh and ripe with plum, candied strawberry, sour cherry and raspberry but also shows a darker smoky side with hints of mint, tobacco, earth and potpourri. The flavors are forward and sweet with vanilla, blackberry, rhubarb, black cherry and caramel. A lighter style than our Goldeneye, this wine shows the range and flexibility of the Pinot Noir varietal.
$26.00 per bottle.
King Eider Vermouth
Imagine this served as an aperitif in a martini glass over shaved frozen orange juice!
Notes
Sauvignon Blanc is the base wine for King Eider and incorporates a proprietary blend of aromatic herbs and spices such as chamomile flower, star anise, bitter orange rind, sweet cinnamon, and afghan rose buds prior to aging. The resulting vermouth is stored in French oak barrels before bottling. It is exceptional as an aperitif served with appetizers such as sweet dates stuffed with goat cheese, dry cheeses such as Asiago, Pecorino, or Parmesan, or lightly salted toasted nuts. King Eider can also be used as a flavorful component in any cooking or drink recipe calling for dry vermouth.
$19.99 per bottle.
