May the Force be with you from the Duke of Bourbon!

No, HdV is not the robot from one of the Star Wars movies. Long, long ago (December 2002), right here in this very galaxy, we introduced HdV to our loyal fans. HdV is the joint venture between the de Villaine family, owners of Domaine de la Romanče-Conti, and the Hyde family, owners of the famous Hyde Vineyard, source of fruit for some of the finest wines coming from Napa Valley. The first vintage, introduced last year, was an absolutely stunning effort and was showered with acclaim from both wine critics and consumers.

The Duke's staff has had a chance to taste the 2001 Chardonnay and were overwhelmed by its flavor and intensity. While we haven't found tasting notes from the major critics for the new vintage, allow us to remind you of what we published in our email last January regarding the 2000 Chardonnay:

Ron Wiegand, noted wine consultant to the restaurant industry and the only American who is both a Master of Wine and a Master Sommelier, has said that the 2000 HdV Chardonnay was the finest California Chardonnay he has ever tasted.

Let's look at what is in store for us with the 2001 vintage:

HdV 2001 Chardonnay, Carneros ' 'A Wine of Seduction'

A complex floral nose with notes of white fruit and hints of lemon. In the mouth, multiple layers of flavors of peach and brioche lead to a long, fresh, vibrant finish. In other words, a big, rich, Montrachet-style Chardonnay. What else would you expect from the proprietors of Domaine de la Romanče-Conti?

HdV 2001 Red Table Wine, Carneros ' 'A Wine in Adolescence'

A dark, intense ruby red blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon shows aromas of fine spices that open to a balanced complex of flavors, black fruits and cinnamon. A wine that shows promise of elegance, finesse and balance, and the ability to improve with cellaring. In fact, the winery recommends cellaring for 2-3 years or decanting for up to two hours if you are serving it now.

The Duke has assembled some combo packs for your consideration. The 6-pack (4 Chardonnay and 2 of the Red) is priced at $360.00. We also have a 3-pack (2 Chardonnay and 1 of the Red) priced at $185.00.

These wines are extremely limited, so you need to kick it in to hyperdrive and call the Duke to reserve your share.

Think of fine wine! Think of the Duke!
