Au Bon Climat

Au Bon Climat is located in the beautiful Santa Maria Valley on the Central Coast of California. Owner/winemaker Jim Clendenen is producing some of the world's finest wines, specializing in Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that are rich, flavorful and true to their varietal characters. In addition, Jim is highly involved in the production of the Duke's own Chaparral Chardonnay as well as the wines of Ici/La-Bas, Il Podere Dell'Olivos and Vita Nova.

Chaparral Chardonnay & Pinot Noir

Chaparral Chardonnay is the Duke's own house label. This exclusive Chardonnay is produced and bottled by Jim Clendenen at his famed Au Bon Climat Winery in the beautiful Santa Maria Valley on the Central Coast of California. Following Burgundian traditions, it is barrel-fermented and goes through full malolactic fermentation.

The 1998 Pinot Noir, Bien Nacido, Reserve, also produced at Au Bon Climat, is wonderfully fruity, great-drinking and delicious! It comes from the Bien Nacido Vineyard and goes great with food.

Duckhorn Vineyards

The Duke of Bourbon is Duckhorn Headquarters!! This outstanding Napa Valley winery is, without a doubt, one of the world's finest producers of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Duckhorn Vineyards produced its first vintage (Merlot) in 1978. Today, production is approximately 45,000 cases of eight wines.

The winery is located in Napa Valley on a 10-acre parcel along the Silverado Trail just north of St. Helena. Duckhorn Vineyards owns 100 acres of prime vineyard land and has long-term contracts with approximately 30 Napa Valley growers. All grapes are hand-picked and hand-sorted prior to crushing. The wines are fermented and barrel-aged seperately by vineyard lot until the final blend is created. They use 100% French oak barrels. With such limited production, they are able to follow their wines with great attention to detail, ensuring premium quality wines.

Long Vineyards

Long Vineyards is located high atop Pritchard Hill overlooking Lake Hennessey in St. Helena, a prime area of Napa Valley. This picturesque 120-acre estate has approximately 25 acres planted to Chardonnay, Johannisberg Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is owned by Bob Long and his former wife Zelma Long, formerly the President and CEO of Simi Winery in Healdsburg. Many experts feel that Bob, Zelma and their winemaker Sandi Belcher produce the finest Chardonnay and Johannisberg in Napa Valley. In addition to wines produced from grapes grown on the Long Estate, grapes are purchased to produce several other fine wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese.

Chateau Montelena

The historic and beautiful Chateau Montelena Winery, located in Calistoga at the northern end of Napa Valley, was built originally in 1882, but winemaking there was halted by prohibition. In 1972, under the leadership of James Barrett, the Montelena Estate vineyard was replanted, the Chateau was outfitted with modern winemaking equipment, and the first wines in 50 years were produced.

With their second vintage, Chateau Montelena helped bring the high quality of California winemaking to the attention of the entire world when their 1973 Chardonnay won the prestigious Paris Tasting of 1976, beating high-pedigree white Burgundies previously considered superior.

Under the direction of winemaker Bo Barrett, Chateau Montelena produces consistently excellent wines. Their Estate Cabernet Sauvignons are powerful and complex with layers of berry, cedar and earth nuances combined with balance and structure to make a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth or that will age gracefully for many years.

Their Chardonnays are clean and crisp with a light touch of oak, full-bodied and complex, and balanced with the grapes natural acidity. They are known for their depth of character as well as their potential for long-term aging.

In addition to their highly-acclaimed Estate Cabernets and Chardonnays, Chateau Montelena produces a popular softer-style Cabernet called Calistoga Cuvee as well as a limited amount of St. Vincent.

Schramsberg Vineyards

Schramsberg Vineyards, an exquisite estate located in Calistoga in the north-west part of the Napa Valley, produces some of the world's finest Champagnes. Jack and Jamie Davies re-established the former Jacob Schram property in 1965 strictly for the production of premier sparkling wines.

In November of 1994, looking for the ultimate in Champagne, the Los Angeles Times assembled 22 of the world's finest Champagnes, including Dom Perignon, Louis Roederer Cristal, Krug Grand Cuvee and several top California sparklers. The Davies' newest wine, J. Schram, was selected as Number One in this prestigious judging. The rest is history, J. Schram proved that California Champagne is truly world class! As Jack Davies had stated, 'In California one can produce wines as fine as any in the world. All it takes is learning, attention to detail, art, understanding nature and genuine long-term thinking.'
