We've pulled out all stops for our list wine dinner of this millennium! With great pleasure and excitement, we invite you to join us on Thursday, November 4, 1999, as we present "DINNER WITH THE WINES OF JOSEPH PHELPS VINEYARDS en Magnum ... at POSTO." Not only will we have a fabulous dining experience, we will have the opportunity to taste some of Napa Valley's finest wines! And as a special treat, seven of the wines will be served from magnum bottles!

Joe Phelps founded his beautiful winery in 1972 on 600 acres in the beautiful Spring Valley area of St. Helena, California. From the very beginning, he has produced superb Napa Valley wines displaying his innovative spirit and passion for quality. He pioneered a number of "firsts" in the early years of the winery. The 1974 Insignia was the first Bordeaux-style blend produced in California under a proprietary label. The release of his 1974 Syrah sparked industry-wide interest in this Rhone varietal whose plantings in California had disappeared for over half a century.

Joining us to share the Joseph Phelps story will be TOM SHELTON, the very personable and charming President and C.E.O. of Joseph Phelps Vineyards and President of the Napa Valley Vintners Association. Tom will guide us through a fantastic array of wines, including a pre-release showing of the long-awaited 1997 Insignia, the superb 1996 Backus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, a delicious Trockenbeerenauslese-style Late Harvest Johannisberg Riesling with 27% residual sugar, and, the piece de resistance, the 1976 Bi-Centennial Insignia (yes, you read it correctly - 1976)!

Our dinner this evening has been created by world-class restaurateur Piero Selvaggio and the chefs of his excellent Posto restaurant to complement the exciting Joseph Phelps Vineyards wines. Space is limited, so we encourage you to make your reservations promptly.

The cost for this "Dinner with the Wines of Joseph Phelps Vineyard en Magnum" is $75.00 each for the member and the first guest, all inclusive; additional guest and non-member reservations are $85.00 each.
